Lonely 61-year-old waits in vain for birthday guests - when he gets up, everything changes

A 61-year-old man went to a restaurant to celebrate his birthday with his family.

At least, he thought.

He arrived early and arranged everything. He made sure there were plenty of seats and plates, put the cake on the table, and even added some decorative material and party caps.

Then he sat down and waited - and waited and waited. But no one came up.

The other guests in the restaurant started wondering what was going on.

Time tipped further. But the 61-year-old man, Eduviges Villatoro, remained alone in his chair.

No family member appeared to accompany him.

Eventually, Eduviges stood up. He scrapped his throat, prompted the attention of the guests of the restaurant and announced the following:

"It's my birthday today. I am 61 years old, and I have prepared a party for tonight. I bought a pie because I would meet my family here to celebrate my birthday. I had hoped my children, grandchildren and my wife would come. But as you can see, no-one is coming up, "said the man, according to guest Patty Rodriguez, who shared the incident on Facebook.

With tears in his eyes he then said:

"Therefore, I ask if someone wants to accompany me to celebrate my birthday and to sing" Happy Birthday "for me. I would be grateful forever."

The strangers in the restaurant did not hesitate for a moment.

Then they stood up and walked to Eduviges, hugged him and assembled some tables to give the 61-year-old the party he deserved.

None of the guests had ever met Eduviges, but they gave him warmth and showed humanity.



The friendly response of the guests became a hit online. But in reality, Eduviges Villatoros's birthday party was just a social experiment aimed at seeing how people would respond when they faced such a situation.

When I read this story, I understood why many people are afraid of getting old. Sometimes we do not manage to take care of the elderly in our lives. We forget them when we are busy with our things in our world where we are central to ourselves.



Many older people die bitterly because of the last years of their lives. I hope this story helps us remember our old friends and relatives because they deserve our most profound respect and our love.
