The teacher uses 3 slices of bread to show students how germs spread when they do not wash their hands.

Every parent knows that children do not wash their hands often enough. But you can not blame children that they do not realize what the importance of frequent washing of hands is. Microscopic germs that cannot be perceived by the naked eye are after all an abstract concept, a concept that is not easy to understand for a child.

Fortunately, one teacher came up with the perfect experiment to show how germs spread - and the importance of keeping hands clean.

Bacteria are almost everywhere. According to the Mayo Clinic, most germs are harmless, but there are also germs that are extremely dangerous.

Infectious bacteria that cause infections are bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoans, and helminths. These can all create a variety of diseases, ranging from a simple cold to tuberculosis.

The Mayo Clinic indicates that washing your hands is one of the most "simple and effective ways to protect yourself from germs and most infections." It is essential to wash your hands properly for the preparation of a meal, before eating, after coughing, sneezing and after a toilet visit.

This is all commonly known among adults. But for children, this is more difficult to understand.

Donna Gill Allen, a teacher from North Carolina, therefore thought of a smart way to show children that germs are - and moreover, extremely dirty.

First, Donna took a slice of white bread.

She used a glove to remove the bread, to show that the bread was not exposed to germs or her skin. On the bag in which she slices, she wrote "Controlled" (Verified).

Donna then wiped her hands and used her bare hands to grab a piece of bread in a bag. On this second bag, she wrote "Clean hands."

The third and final slice, Donna grabbed her unwashed hands and then let her students pass it on to the classroom.

After all the slices had grabbed in a bag and hung on the wall where everyone could see it, Donna proved her position due to the moldy "dirty" slice of bread.

"Look how the bread changes with time by the germs," wrote the teacher. "This is so fun and a good way to learn the importance of washing hands."
